With a new venue and a fresh look, the Future Collector Car Show continues to evolve as it showcases future collector cars and their owners. The 2023 show on the Polo Field at WestWorld during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction will continue this sentiment and mission with a refreshed set of award classes.
In 2020, the award classes were focused on a generalized vision that the owner was pushing to achieve and showcase. Best Modified, Best Preserved and Best Restored were some of the main focuses for past award classes, in addition to ‒ of course ‒ the Best of Show. While collectability is a factor considered in vehicles best representing these classes, a fresh approach was applied for the 2023 show to continue the FCCS mission as well as adjust to the trends seen in the collector car hobby.
The 2023 award classes include:
● Best of Show – Simply the vehicle that is the best representation across all categories.
● Best Preserved – The single best all-original car at the show. While this may tend to be the best single example, additional factors such as the age of each car will be factored into the award decision.
● Best Restored – Originality is the key. The restored class is not a modified car class unless those modifications were available from the factory when that car was new.
● Rookie of the Year – Awarded to the top vehicle owned by someone 25 years of age or younger.
● People’s Choice – Determined by attendees through live voting open for the duration of the show.
New classes include:
● Best Period-Correct Modifications – This class was created to highlight the efforts and merit found in vehicles that feature modifications that were the top-of-the-line for the time period in which the vehicle was produced.
● Best Purpose-Built Performance – The vehicle that best accomplishes the performance-focused purpose it was built for in show-quality form (i.e. Drag Racing, Drifting, Autocross, Road Racing).
● Visionary – The vehicle that has been modified and designed to best represent the owner’s cohesive vision.
● Elegance of Heritage – The vehicle that best represents the heritage and history of the vehicle’s manufacturer.
● Best Electro-Mod – Open to all modified electric vehicles and electric conversions, this category is focused on the vehicle that exemplifies the ingenuity of the integration of electric vehicle technology.
Each class will also be judged on the show-quality presentation of the vehicle, as well as by a number of qualified concours judges and celebrities (soon to be released) and awarded the signature Crystal Piston trophy.
The prestigious Best of Show award extends further than receiving the top award for the year. While the class award signifies the best representation of the Future Collector Car Show mission, the Best of Show winner will be the marquee vehicle for the year in promoting the next event. Opportunities include being showcased at various events around the nation, featured in artwork for the annual FCCS collectible enamel pin and other event merchandise, invited to the following year’s event as its highlight vehicle and featured in press opportunities. The only caveat to winning Best of Show is that the same vehicle cannot compete in the following year’s show to allow for competitors to ramp up their efforts to take the coveted award.
The 2023 Future Collector Car Show at Barrett-Jackson will be held on Sunday, January 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Polo Field at WestWorld during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. Admission to FCCS includes access to all the auction has to offer, including the Hot Laps and Thrill Rides on the Barrett-Jackson Performance Track and a stylist competition fashion runway show.
