This 1978 Toyota Cressida was stock when Joe Haven took possession of it. He promptly slapped some wheels on the car, added coilovers and drove it around for a few years before he decided it was time to really build it.
A year later, the result of those efforts is seen here. The Cressida is finished in its factory Toyota Yellow with Gold Pearl. Up front is a set of Marchal headlights complemented by front and rear spoilers from Moonlight Runners. It sits on a set of SSR MK1 wheels, 15×8 up front and 15×9 in the rear.
Power comes from a 1JZ-GTE engine fitted with a Garrett GTX3076 turbo, a Future Fabrications manifold and a Garrett intercooler — and it breathes though an oval 3-inch stainless-steel exhaust. The engine is fed by a Bosch 044 fuel pump with a custom swirl pot and an E85 sensor and is kept cool by a Koyo radiator and Setrab oil cooler. An AEM Infinity ECU helps control its engine functions. The Cressida puts out 530 horsepower on E85 gas and 400 horsepower on standard pump gas.
The engine is hooked to a 6-speed transmission from a 350Z, which sends power to a Celica Supra rear axle and Truetrac limited-slip differential. The Cressida utilizes suspension from an S13 chassis and Stance coilovers.
Inside, this Cressida utilizes an S13 speedometer with a Dakota Digital GPS unit, a gaugeART CAN bus gauge and a vintage Pioneer audio system.
