The cancellation of Monterey Car Week due to COVID-19 was a disappointing blow to the collector car enthusiasts and automotive insiders from all over the world. We were all suddenly left with a gap in our calendar and a hole in our petrol-fueled hearts — that is being filled this week with virtual events like our Virtual Future Collector Car Show.
Not wanting to cry over spilled motor oil, the Petersen Automotive Museum announced Petersen Car Week streamed live on the museum’s YouTube channel. Bringing together dozens of once-cancelled events, Petersen Car Week is breath of fresh air into the post-COVID world of cancelled automotive events, featuring unveils, auctions, a concours judged by celebrity guests, and the first ever Virtual Future Collector Car Show presented by ClassicCars.com, AutoHunter, the Universal Technical Institute and the ClassicCars.com Journal.
This historic, entirely digital, the Future Collector Car Showbrought in over sixty applicants from all over the world who submitted their future collector car for a chance to win the crystal Best of Show Award. Judged by our own Andy Reid, the winner of the Virtual Future Collector Car Show will receive an invite to compete in the 6th Annual Future Collector Car Show kicking off Arizona Auction Week in January, 2021.
Eighteen worthy finalists will show off their stuff on Thursday, August 13th at 9am PST during the live YouTube premier. Before you watch be sure to read about the entries below!
1999 Acura Integra GS-R: Tyson Hugie
A rare, 170 hp “B18” Super Sonic Blue Pear Integra GS-R. Unlike the majority of ‘builds’ for this show, this one worked in reverse. This is a modified car made stock. Which, for a 1999 Integra, makes it probably more rare than most of its fellow Integras still on the road two decades later. This car required a painstaking checklist of about 50 items to get it back to showroom, from mechanical sorting, to cosmetics, to even replacing stickers in door jambs and worn out hardware / fasteners.
1993 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T: Randall Flotten
Imported from Japan in October 2018. This R33 GTS -T Skyline has a Bomex racing body kit wrapped in 3M Black Rose, and a Veil side wing. The interior has been updated with Recaro seats with harnesses. Fitted with a cat-less exhaust, intercooler, intake, strut bar and coil-overs.
1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet GTI: Benjamin Bailey
The 100HP engine of the 1983-1984 Rabbit GTI implanted in a Karmann Coachbuilt Volkswagen MK1 Cabriolet Body, and all this done from the factory in Germany and sold on the US Market. This car is a very well-kept example with only 80k Miles and kept stock apart from coil-over suspension and small euro style bumpers. Designed by Giugiaro, the cabriolet is a perfect sister to the hardtop version and loses none of the lovely 80s Box style which is pleasing to the eye and a signature of this very rapidly rising star of the 80s.
1975 Chevrolet Monza: Al Gloddeck
This rare Monza was fitted from the factory with a factory IMSA wide body kit, 350ci V8 engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and a posi-traction read end.
1993 Nissan Silvia Spirit Rei: Dana Council
This right hand drive 1993 Silvia Ks Edition, was legally imported to the United States from Japan. The exterior has a complete Spirit Rei Miyabi widebody kit made in Japan. There are no more than 5 other Silvia S13s with this body kit and the only one in Arizona. It’s fitted with a carbon fiber hood made by D-Max. The side view mirrors are extremely rare, produced by the Japanese parts manufacturer Gannador. The custom interior features twin BRIDE racing bucket seats with Takata harnesses, Rare Nismo 240Kmh gauge cluster, Nismo Steering Wheel, Nismo pedals, three Defi gauges with custom gauge pod, Defi Advance ZD gauge system, custom Pioneer sound system and a Custom carbon fiber center console.
Powered by its original SR20DET engine block with a Greedy Intake Manifold, Tomei Pomcams, Tomei Tl Exhsust, Evolve radiator, Blitz Intercooler, HKS Blow Off Valve, dynoed at 320 HP

2018 Steeda Ford Focus ST: Austin Day
This last year production Focus ST was fitted and serialized by Steeda Performance Vehicles and wears VIN 009 of the Focus STs produced. Upgrades featured are all Steeda Focus ST parts including Cold Air Intake with Performance Tune, High Capacity Intercooler Upgrade, Short Throw Shifter Kit, T409 Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust system, Turbosmart Blow-off Valve, G-Trac Suspension Package, Lowering Springs and much more!
2016 Ford Shelby GT350R: Howard Gilson
Finished in avalanche Gray with black stripes, red accents, and black roof. This is #365 of 526 produced in 2016. A rare color with low production numbers amazing sound from the flat plane crank 5.2L V8 engine, 6-speed manual gearbox, carbon fiber wheels, carbon fiber rear spoiler.

2016 Alfa Romeo 4C: Dwayne Kalynchuk
Fitted from the factory with a stage 2 performance kit, this 4C boasts over 300 hp. Finished in Black with Metallic Red stripes on hood and lower side panels, this Alfa has numerous carbon items including a carbon fiber tub hand made at the Modena Maserati factory. Only about 8,500 4Cs were produced with about 200 in Canada and 2000 in the United States.
2017 Chevrolet SS: Philip Nybro
Powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine with 415hp and 415lbs torque, this modern muscle car features a limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, and GM magnetic suspension. This is a low production car with only 14,000 units over four years, 2014-2017. Finished in black over black, sunroof delete, this is one of the best sports sedans anywhere of modern times.
2020 Aston Martin Vantage: Ken Venzke
A rare specimen of the Aston Martin Lagonda “Q” customization special order in Quantum Silver. A preamble to similar vehicle based off the New Vantage in the upcoming Bond movie “No Time To Die.”
2000 BMW M Roadster: Victor Troia
This M Roadster is finished in Estoril Blue with matching Estoril Blue and black nap leather interior complete with a Navy Blue soft top. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and BMW’s S52 3.2L engine that are also found in E36 M3’s.
2019 Subaru STi S209: Holly Oneal
This stunning 2019 Subaru STi S209 is the first and possibly the only S model car from STi (Subaru Tecnica International) to be imported into the US from Japan. There are 9 different S models produced with the first one introduced in year 2000. The previous S models did not meet the US’s strict EPA standards. STi was determined to bring an S line to the US and they have achieved that. The STi’s S model vehicles are hand built, designed and modified specifically for the race track. It excels on the track and corners beautifully. Produced in a limited number of 209, 81 were finished in Crystal White Pearl and the remainder in the classic World Rally Blue. Spotting these vehicles in the wild is pretty rare and exciting!
1990 Ford Mustang GT: Matthew Soppa
A purpose-built drift Fox body with a 2013 Mustang 5.0 power plant. Full roll cage, suspension modifications for sliding corners, a hydraulic handbrake, and much more to make it drift-friendly. Subtle exterior mods complete the look with an 03-04 Cobra lower front number 93 cobra rear bumper, wide and forward offset Maier racing front fenders, and a Saleen Wing.
2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca Edition: Charles Holmes
In 2010 Ford Motor Company revived the Boss 302 moniker for racing in what was then the Continental Sports Car Challenge or Trans-Am series and the Pirelli World Challenge series.
This led to the homologation and release of the Boss 302 and Boss 302 Laguna Seca to the public in 2012 and 2013. The Laguna Seca Edition, being more track-focused and coming equipped with more race-specific parts that would be used in the Trans-Am and World Challenge series. Like the 1969 and 1970 homologation special Boss 302s, whose production was limited to 8641 units, the new Boss 302s would be similarly limited. Of the 8334 Boss 302s built in 2012 – 2013, only 1528 were Laguna Seca editions.
Inspired by the 1970 Boss 302 driven by Parnelli Jones to the 1970 Trans-Am Championship. Unique factory features include: All forged engine internals and U-code tuning, Recaro racing seats, rear seat delete with chassis cross brace, brake cooling ducts, transmission cooler, adjustable front splitter, 3.73 Torsen diff, functional rear spoiler, R-Comp tires, 6-way adjustable suspension, and quad exhaust (side and rear). Total engine output is rated at 444hp/380lb/ft with a 7500rpm redline.
1977 Toyota Celica Liftback: Koji Yamaguchi
This Right Hand Drive Toyota Celica was purchased in Japan in 1989 and imported to the United States where it has been meticulously restored to near perfect condition. Kept mostly stock with tasteful upgrades, this liftback is powered by a re-built 18RG inline-four engine and fitted with a front-end coilover kit with stopping power brought on by a Techno Toy Tuning big brake kit.
2004 Subaru WRX STi: John Darling
Originally purchased as a stock WRX STi, this highly modified Subaru features period correct modifications and various performance upgrades. The car’s aggressive appearance is accentuated by the Kaminari reverse cowl carbon fiber hood, a Cusco GT front bumper/spoiler, Chargespeed Type 2 sideskirts and a Syms-style adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. Powered by a 580 hp Cosworth EJ257 with Brian Crower 280 camshafts, oversized valves, a Cosworth manifold, and a Garrett GT3682 turbo. One would be hard pressed to miss the 18×9.5 Enkei RS05RR wheels done in a radiant anodized red with custom platinum silver painted Brembo calipers and R1 Concepts engraved STi rotors.
